A Walking Shoe
1 well-worn pair
most strange ideas surface mid-step, not mid-screen. walking is to thinking what salt is to cooking.

"stir clockwise, until the meaning thickens." — the swamp cook

Method

  1. Begin with boredom. Sit with it on purpose. The phone is not the answer.
  2. When something flickers — anything — name it. Even badly. Naming gives it a shape it can grow into.
  3. Walk. Don't think about the idea. Trust the unconscious to keep cooking.
  4. Read it back in the morning, when your brain is still wet.
  5. Run it past an agent. Let it argue. Keep what survives.
  6. Wait one more sleep. Strange ideas that stay strange after sleep are the ones to chase.
